About The Position

The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is conducting an open search for a School Professor, Non-Tenure Track, in the Department of Practice, Sciences and Health Outcomes Research. This position requires teaching, service to the school, campus and the profession, and scholarly activity. The position is a full-time, 12-month appointment based at our Baltimore campus. In addition to service, and scholarly activity this position will be responsible for Institutional and Curricular Assessment and serving as course manager for the Pharmacy Law PharmD course, review sessions and oversight of MPJE licensing requirements. The University of Maryland, Baltimore campus houses schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Law, and Dentistry. The University of Maryland enjoys an excellent established record of accomplishment of successful collaboration for interprofessional practice and research collaborations with the other professional schools on campus.

Requirements

  • An earned J.D. Juris Doctor or equivalent degree with a strong focus on institutional assessment and pharmacy law.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Professional conduct in all dealings with students, faculty, or administration.
  • Knowledge of communication and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform via written, oral, and visual media.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design principles, evidence-based teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and knowledge of measurement and assessment.
  • Willing and able to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Willing and able to lead; take charge and offer opinions and direction.
  • Selecting and using instructional methods and procedures appropriate in the discipline family when learning or teaching new things.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty.
  • Monitoring/assessing curricula to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead institutional assessment and academic effectiveness, managing campus-wide assessment processes, analyzing faculty workload and productivity, conducting major institutional surveys, mapping and evaluating PharmD curricular outcomes, and interpreting student performance data to guide program improvement.
  • Conduct original research evidence-based decision making, policy development, and scholarly analysis across key academic and operational areas, including pharmacy school enrollment trends, curriculum design and tuition structures, student remediation and grading policies, innovative faculty promotion and tenure models, and faculty salary benchmarking.
  • Serve as course manager for the Pharmacy Law PharmD course, review sessions and oversight of MPJE licensing requirements.
  • Participate in appropriate faculty activities (e.g., faculty assembly, department meetings, faculty committees), professional organizations, and other endeavors.
