About The Position

The City of Greeley is looking for responsible and safety minded School Crossing Guards that will direct pedestrian crossings and ensure the safety of children, while remaining alert to traffic hazards. School Crossing Guards direct pedestrian crossings and ensure the safety of children, while remaining alert to traffic hazards. Guards must be punctual and must remain at work location until conclusion of assignment at various school locations throughout Greeley. Substitutes must be able to respond to short-notice requests when a guard becomes ill or has other commitments. Schedule could average 3 hours per day (split shift), Monday thru Friday during school year. Substitutes may refuse a request to fill an open position, but no more than three consecutive times.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Ability to stay patient and have concern for safety.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple concurrent and competing tasks and responsibilities, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining personal effectiveness.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable professional judgment, as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results.
  • Candidates must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and employment eligibility verification.
  • Pre-employment screenings include a drug test, a background and national sex offender search, a motor vehicle record search, and for some positions, a physical demands evaluation.
