About The Position

This is a term position for a School Counselor at St. Andrew Junior School, focusing on French as a Second Language (Fr. ELA) for grades 7 and 8. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is responsible for delivering the public school program in northeastern Nova Scotia, supporting student learning, achievement, well-being, and success. The SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and 375 children in pre-primary programs across four counties. The role requires a valid Nova Scotia teacher certification and specific qualifications related to school counseling and technology in education.

Requirements

  • Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia
  • Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition
  • Excellent classroom and student management skills
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning
  • Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies
  • Enrolled in School Counseling program, with an already completed school practicum
  • Provide at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor.
  • Provide a current (within the last 6 months), and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.
