About The Position

DATTCO is hiring a School Bus Monitor in Bristol, Connecticut. The role supports safe transportation of students on buses, minivans, vans, or cars by helping maintain appropriate behavior, enforcing safety rules, assisting with boarding and safety equipment, and supporting drivers during routes and emergencies. The schedule consists of split shifts for morning and afternoon school bus routes; additional hours may be available by coordinating with a manager.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including state and national criminal background checks, registry checks, drug testing, and any other screening required by law, the Connecticut DMV, school district policy, or DATTCO policy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a reasonable level of good behavior among children on the vehicle.
• Enforce school bus safety rules, including ensuring students remain seated, do not harm themselves or others, do not eat on the bus, and follow other safety regulations.
• Recognize situations that could endanger children and report them to the bus driver immediately.
• Assist the driver in checking the vehicle after each school run to ensure all children have exited.
• Help buckle children or use other safety equipment as required by safety laws.
• Assist with evacuating children from the vehicle during emergencies.
• Help the driver with directions according to a predetermined route sheet.
