About The Position

The School Bus Monitor/Aide provides operational oversight and day-to-day management while assisting drivers in the safe operation of routes. The role involves monitoring passengers, helping students board and exit, supporting bus inspections and emergency evacuations, and communicating with drivers, school personnel, students, and parents. English proficiency is required for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Responsibilities

• Know the route and remain alert to monitor the welfare of passengers while en route.
• Communicate behavior problems and conditions at various stops to the driver.
• Assist with pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections.
• Assist students with loading and unloading.
• Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, students, and parents.
• Attend safety and training meetings.
• Conduct emergency bus evacuations, including using the emergency exit door.
• Open and close service doors and move up and down the steps multiple times daily.
• Clean the inside of the bus.
• Assist the driver, when necessary, in safely directing the vehicle backward.
