About The Position

First Student is hiring a part-time School Bus Monitor/Aide serving the Rochester City School District in Rochester, New York. The monitor assists the bus driver in providing a safe journey for students traveling to and from school. No prior experience is required; First Student provides safety and job training. The schedule consists of flexible weekday split shifts for morning and afternoon routes, with no nights, weekends, holidays, or summers. The role requires English proficiency for training, safety communications, policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible split shifts (AM/PM).
• Physical ability to assist students and perform emergency procedures.
• Friendly, reliable, and patient when working with children.
• Team-oriented, with a focus on safety.
• English proficiency for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Nice To Haves

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help students safely board and exit the bus.
• Assist children with special needs during transport.
• Ensure students remain seated and follow bus safety rules.
• Communicate with the driver to maintain a safe, calm ride.
• Provide care and encouragement to students each day.
