About The Position

Illinois Central is hiring School Bus Drivers in Blue Island. Drivers are an integral part of the communities served and are expected to prioritize safety, customer service, and caring interactions with children. No school bus experience is necessary; training is provided to help drivers obtain a CDL and required endorsements.

The A.M./P.M. route package guarantees four hours per day when school is in session. Additional hours may be available through mid-day routes, field trips, and charters. Summer school routes are available for those who want to work year-round, with breaks during school holidays. AM and PM shifts are offered, and weekends are not required.

The listed pay is $25.60 to $34.36 per hour, based on experience. Drivers are paid weekly and may qualify for a $1.00-per-hour weekly attendance bonus by working Monday through Friday across all AM and PM shifts. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Hold a valid driver’s license for at least three years.
• Pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet students with a smile and a positive attitude.
• Safely transport passengers.
• Assist students with the loading and unloading process.
• Use good verbal communication skills.
