About The Position

First Student is hiring part-time School Bus Drivers to serve the Skaneateles Central School District in Skaneateles, New York. Drivers safely transport students to and from school and school-sponsored activities, helping create positive experiences for students, families, and the community. No prior CDL or bus-driving experience is required; paid CDL training is provided. The role offers a weekday schedule, a guaranteed minimum of five paid hours per school day, summers off, and additional earning opportunities through field trips, athletic events, and charter work. The position is subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive role. English proficiency is required for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications. Sign-on bonus conditions apply; the offer expires December 31, 2026.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Have a valid driver's license held for at least three years.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
Enjoy working with children and being part of the community.
Have English proficiency for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Responsibilities

Safely transport students to and from school and school-sponsored activities.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus.
Assist students during boarding and exiting, including students requiring additional support.
Follow all traffic laws and company safety standards.
Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and dispatch.
Report maintenance concerns promptly and maintain vehicle cleanliness.

Benefits

$10,000 sign-on bonus, subject to conditions.
Pay of $26.00–$29.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
