School Bus Driver
About The Position
Vision Transportation is hiring school bus drivers for its Elk River, Big Lake, and St. Michael locations. This is a part-time opportunity with a Monday–Friday schedule. No experience is necessary; paid training is offered at $23 per hour, with support to obtain a Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements. Once fully licensed, the starting hourly rate is $29. Already licensed school bus drivers are eligible for a $1,500 hiring bonus. Vision Transportation is a family-owned and operated company that describes its work environment as fun and friendly. It supports communities in school districts ISD 727, ISD 728, and ISD 885, with offices in Big Lake, Elk River, Rogers, Zimmerman, and St. Michael-Albertville. Summer hours are optional.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid Minnesota driver's license.
- Must pass a drug test, physical, and background screening.
- Professional-level English fluency.
- Ability to read and understand street signs, route sheets, and maps.
- No prior experience is necessary; training is provided.

Responsibilities
- Drive a regular route Monday through Friday.
- Read and understand street signs, route sheets, and maps.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including child checks.
- Assist students with loading and unloading, and monitor traffic to help students cross roads safely.
- Communicate and work effectively with department staff, school personnel, students, parents, and the public.
- Attend all safety and training meetings.
- Conduct emergency evacuations.
- Open and close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times daily.
- Maintain a clean bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning interior and exterior windows.
- Use radio dispatch equipment properly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
