About The Position

DATTCO provides a comprehensive training program for people seeking to become licensed School Bus Drivers. Trainees complete classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction with certified trainers, learn school transportation regulations and defensive driving and student management techniques, and prepare to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and School Bus endorsements. Training also covers vehicle inspections, safety checks, and the skills needed to operate a school bus safely. After successfully completing training and licensing requirements, trainees transition into a School Bus Driver role. Trainees may have the opportunity to work as a School Bus Monitor during training, depending on route availability. This is a part-time opportunity with a flexible schedule, weekends and school breaks off, and possible additional hours through field trips and charter work. The role serves the local community by transporting students to and from school and other activities.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have a valid driver's license with a clear driving record.
• Be able to obtain a CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
• Pass required background checks, drug screening, and DOT physical requirements.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
• Be reliable, punctual, and professional.
• Be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally; repeatedly enter and exit the vehicle; perform vehicle inspections; bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, use vehicle safety equipment, and assist passengers during boarding, exiting, and emergency evacuations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vehicle inspections and safety checks.

• After training and licensing, transport students to and from school and other activities as a School Bus Driver.
