About The Position

NORY is seeking passionate and experienced Site Leaders for their upcoming School Break Day Camps in NYC. The role involves inspiring and supporting educators, showing care to campers, providing excellent customer support to parents, and guiding staff. These camps occur on select school closure days throughout the year, offering flexible leadership opportunities. NORY is a leading STEM camp provider in NYC and Boston, aiming to transform campers into future leaders and innovators.

Requirements

  • Experience managing and coaching a team of 4+ teachers and fostering a positive team environment.
  • A track record of building strong relationships with families in a camp or educational setting.
  • More than 4 years of experience teaching children ages 3 to 13, preferably with a focus on STEM.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and a willingness to learn and adopt new technology and skills.
  • Alignment with NORY's core values ('Ways of Being'): purposeful actions, unifiers fostering empathy and compassion, problem-solving oriented ('how to make it work'), data and logic-driven decisions, seeking feedback and embracing different perspectives, and thorough problem analysis for sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned group of campers with engaging activities that bring NORY’s core values to life, inspiring curiosity and enthusiasm.
  • Mentor and develop teaching staff, ensuring they understand the purpose behind each activity and properly implement protocols for a fun and safe camp environment.
  • Build nurturing and supportive relationships with NORY campers and their families to enhance the camp experience.
  • Efficiently oversee and manage essential resources for camp success, including materials, facilities, and daily schedules.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date administrative records for all aspects of camp operations and compliance.
