About The Position

The School Based Occupational Therapist works at Monarch School, providing direct and indirect occupational therapy services to students with autism who require intervention. The role is part of an interdisciplinary team providing instruction in individual and small-class settings, and reports to the Occupational Therapy Director. The position also supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), including directing and evaluating their work and participating in hiring, disciplinary, discharge, and grievance processes. The therapist conducts assessments and evaluations, develops sensory recommendations and interventions, contributes to IEP/ISP and ETR meetings, and provides consultation and training to families and interdisciplinary staff. The role includes collecting student data, maintaining professional documentation, and keeping current with occupational therapy research and treatment approaches. Monarch Center for Autism’s interdisciplinary team includes specialists such as intervention specialists, teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists. Classroom teams are intentionally small and use Monarch’s visual language immersion teaching model, which combines concept-driven language instruction with visual supports, technology, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The position is full-time for a 10-month school year, with additional compensation available for days worked during the extended school year program.
