About The Position

This role involves providing counseling and therapeutic services to children and families within the Crestwood Schools system. The counselor will conduct psychosocial assessments, select and implement therapeutic approaches, and provide ongoing treatment, including during the summer months to ensure continuity of care. The position also includes school consultation services and potentially administering psychological tests. Adherence to agency policies, standards, and documentation requirements is essential. The role requires participation in staff meetings, workshops, and supervision, as well as meeting productivity expectations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling or social work.
  • Knowledge and skills in need and identification of abused & neglected children; child development and individual and family functioning.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and possible crisis mental health client’s problems.
  • Effective time management and interviewing skills.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability if applicable.
  • Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation) if applicable.
  • Experience in treating children, adolescents and families individually or in a group setting.
  • Unrestricted LPC/LPCC or LSW/LISW license to practice in the State of Ohio.
  • Unrestricted State of Ohio driver’s license.
  • Compliance with AFS’ written standards, including its Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and complete psychosocial intake diagnostic assessments with children and families.
  • Counsel clients after selecting therapeutic approach, with clearly established measurable goals/objectives, frequency, intensity, location and duration of treatment.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions in the school and outpatient office.
  • Engage clients in treatment during the summertime to continue treatment.
  • Effect improved mental health adjustments, aid clients to mobilize inner strengths and environment/social resources to improve social functioning.
  • Serve hard to reach resistant clients and families.
  • Provide school consultation services.
  • If qualified, administer and interpret intelligence, achievement, interest, personality and other psychological tests to diagnose disorders and formulate plans of treatment.
  • Adhere to agency personnel policy and procedures, ODMH/CARF standards, and fulfill documentation, reporting requirements.
  • Attend and participate in staff treatment meetings, workshops and supervision.
  • Work summer programming in an outpatient setting when school is out of session.
  • Adhere to productivity expectations (850+50 summer).
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
