About The Position

MAHEC is seeking candidates for School Based Therapists to serve McDowell County Schools. This is a full-time, 11-month position with July off, offering MAHEC's Total Rewards package. The role involves providing outpatient mental health treatment within assigned school settings, meeting clinical benchmarks, ensuring compliance with program contracts, and maintaining fiscal responsibility. Therapists will work onsite in one or more schools within their assigned district, with a current high need for elementary-aged students. The position reports to a Team Supervisor of the School Based Behavioral Health Program.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mental Health, Counseling, or Social Work.
  • Qualifying licensure: LCSW, LMHC, or Doctoral Level Psychologist (PhD, PsyD).
  • Provisional license allowed.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database applications.
  • Regular attendance on-site at assigned schools is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish/English language skills preferred.
  • Some positions may require a primary focus on crisis assessment in the school setting.
  • Full licensure strongly preferred.
  • Open to considering Associate Licensed therapists.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy to clients using approved clinical models and modalities.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, trauma-screenings, threat assessments, and comprehensive crisis plans.
  • Incorporate internal and external collateral information into case conceptualization and treatment planning.
  • Participate in program and activity planning related to therapeutic activities and treatment.
  • Participate in treatment planning and implementation, including clinical service teams, linking and referring clients/families to services, and other programming.
  • Provide support and training to clients and staff on behavioral strategies and interventions using evidenced-based models.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call crisis support; some positions may focus on crisis assessment in schools.
  • Complete required documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, service authorization requests, and clinical intakes within specified time frames.
  • Submit clinical assessments, addendums, transfer documentation, conference notes, and discharge paperwork within designated time frames.
  • Participate in clinical staffing, monthly administrative meetings, and supervision.
