School Age Teacher / Bus Driver
About The Position
The Sunshine House is hiring a School Age Teacher / Bus Driver at its Charlotte, North Carolina location. The role combines school-age childcare and teaching responsibilities with safely transporting children to and from area elementary schools and field trips. The teacher implements the school’s curriculum, supports children’s learning and development, maintains a safe and inclusive environment, and shares updates about children’s daily milestones with families. The driver operates a small bus and completes safety checks and drills. The listed pay range is $15.00–$20.00 per hour; candidates with advanced education and early childhood experience may qualify for higher pay within the range.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Willingness to drive a 14-passenger minibus; no CDL is required.
- Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and work while standing.
- BSAC training required.
- Previous experience as a teacher at a licensed childcare center required.
Nice To Haves
- NCECC certificate preferred.

- Implement the school’s curriculum to meet each child’s unique learning style.
- Build relationships with children and provide a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Document and share children’s daily milestones with families using the school’s app.
- Encourage and model developmentally appropriate social behavior and expectations.
- Safely transport children to and from area elementary schools and field trips in a small bus.
- Ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment.
- Complete safety checks and drills.
