About The Position

This role is based at the York Academy Regional Charter School; however, the position is employed by and compensated through the York JCC. The School Age Lead Teacher will provide leadership for the classroom team, maintain the quality of the JCC’s School Age Program, and provide excellent care and education for children while building strong relationships with families. The principle duties include planning and implementing daily program activities, coordinating the activities of the Assistant Teachers and Aides, and assisting the School Age/Summer Camp Director with designated activities. The role also involves assisting the School Age Director in the supervision of staff members in your home base, providing a nurturing environment where all children feel welcomed and secure, and meeting Keystone Stars standards. The position requires adherence to JCC Early Childhood Program standards for DHS regulations, family communication, facility and equipment care, record keeping, curriculum, health and safety procedures, and teamwork, including regular attendance at staff meetings. Additionally, the role requires positively and actively promoting the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public, and providing excellent customer service by adhering to the JCC Consumer Code of Conduct. Time used to support the JCC in meeting Keystone Stars quality standards is funded by Keystone Stars. If the JCC should lose this funding, then that portion of time and salary would be absorbed into the operating budget.

Requirements

  • Understand/possess an openness to Jewish religion and traditions
  • Attend all meetings and events that support the department’s main objectives and responsibilities
  • Positively and actively promote the JCC’s mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public
  • Be familiar with the mission, vision statements, and Core Values of the JCC. Model the Core Values while working and communicating with members and staff
  • B.A. degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, special education, psychology, or the human services field; or
  • B.A. in any field with 30 credit hours in above fields; or
  • A.A. degree in above field and two years of experience; or
  • A.A. in any field with 30 credit hours in above field and three years’ experience
