About The Position

The School Age Childcare (SACC) positions are 10-month opportunities that follow the school calendar year, from September through June. Employees have the option to extend their employment by working in the Summer Camp program during July and August. This role supports engaging programs for children year-round and offers flexibility for continued employment through the summer. An Early Wage Access (EWA) program is available, allowing employees to access a portion of their earned wages on demand before payday.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years old (with valid NYS working papers for minors) for Activities Assistant.
  • 1 year experience working with children for Activities Assistant.
  • HS Diploma/GED for Group Leader.
  • 2 years experience working with children under 13 for Group Leader.
  • Associate’s degree, School Age Childcare Credential, or 18 college credits in a related field for Site Supervisor I or II.
  • 2 years experience with children under 13 for Site Supervisor I or II.
  • 1 year supervisory experience for Site Supervisor I or II.
  • Associate’s degree, Child Development Associate Credential, OR 9 college credits with plan of study leading to degree/CDA for Teacher.
  • 2 years experience with children under 13 for Teacher.
  • 1 year supervisory experience for Teacher.
  • Maintain 30 hours of childcare-related training every 2 years.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test and physician’s clearance to work in childcare.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood-borne Pathogens trainings (completed within 30 days of hire) for supervisory staff.
  • Child Abuse Prevention training (Supervisory Staff).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding child's progress and daily activities.
  • Maintain required training hours in childcare-related topics.
  • Complete mandatory trainings such as CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood-borne Pathogens within 30 days of hire.
  • Perform basic computer tasks and utilize organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relate to diverse groups within the community.
  • For supervisory roles, oversee staff and ensure compliance with Child Abuse Prevention policies.
