About The Position

The School Age Childcare (SACC) positions are 10-month opportunities that follow the school calendar year, from September through June. Employees have the option to extend their employment by working in the Summer Camp program during July and August, based on program enrollment and staffing needs. This offers flexible scheduling for continued employment throughout the summer while supporting engaging programs for children year-round. The positions are located in Glenville, Schenectady & BHBL Schools.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years old (with valid NYS working papers for minors) for Activities Assistant.
  • 1 year experience working with children for Activities Assistant.
  • HS Diploma/GED for Group Leader.
  • 2 years experience working with children under 13 for Group Leader.
  • Associate’s degree, School Age Childcare Credential, OR 18 college credits in a related field for Site Supervisor I or II.
  • 2 years experience with children under 13 for Site Supervisor I or II.
  • 1 year supervisory experience for Site Supervisor I or II.
  • Maintain 30 hours of childcare-related training every 2 years.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test and physician’s clearance to work in childcare.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood-borne Pathogens trainings (completed within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children in a childcare setting.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians.
  • Maintain required training hours.
  • Administer CPR, First Aid, and AED as needed.
  • Perform basic computer tasks.
  • Organize and manage program activities.
  • Solve problems related to childcare.
  • Relate to diverse groups in the community.
  • Complete Child Abuse Prevention training (Supervisory Staff).
  • Complete TB Test and obtain physician's clearance.
