About The Position

The School Age Childcare (SACC) positions are 10-month opportunities that follow the school calendar year, from September through June. Employees have the option to extend their employment by working in the Summer Camp program during July and August, based on program enrollment and staffing needs. This flexible schedule allows for continued employment throughout the summer while supporting engaging programs for children year-round. The positions require maintaining 30 hours of childcare-related training every 2 years, a Tuberculosis (TB) Test and physician’s clearance to work in childcare, basic computer skills, strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to relate to diverse groups in the community. Additional trainings such as Child Abuse Prevention (for Supervisory Staff), CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood-borne Pathogens must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Requirements

  • Activities Assistant: 16 years old (with valid NYS working papers for minors) and 1 year experience working with children.
  • Group Leader: HS Diploma/GED and 2 years experience working with children under 13.
  • Site Supervisor I or II: Associate’s degree, School Age Childcare Credential, or 18 college credits in a related field, 2 years experience with children under 13, and 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Teacher (Atrea Site Only): Associate’s degree, Child Development Associate Credential, OR 9 college credits with plan of study leading to degree/CDA, 2 years experience with children under 13, and 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Maintain 30 hours of childcare-related training every 2 years.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test and physician’s clearance to work in childcare.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups in the community.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood-borne Pathogens trainings (completed within 30 days of hire).

Responsibilities
