About The Position

The School Age Child Care Assistant supports a before- or after-school daycare program in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The role assists the site director with daily program functions and helps children learn and participate in activities, snack time, and homework. The YMCA is seeking an experienced professional who enjoys working with children, connecting with the community, and contributing to a fun and diverse environment. The position is part-time, with hours from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at $15.50–$17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• At least 2 years of experience working with children.
• High school diploma or some college credits.
• At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience in a child care setting.
• Passion for working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances.

Responsibilities

• Find new and engaging ways to help children learn.
• Be patient and kind with parents.
• Assist the site director with day-to-day functions of a before- or after-school daycare program.
• Help children through activities, snack time, homework, and other program activities.
