Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non-profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services include not only basic medical care but also dental, optometry, behavioral health, fitness, nutrition, and other family programs. Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is hiring for a Scheduling Coordinator! Our Scheduling Coordinator provides clerical and administrative support services to the Nursing department. Employee will assist patients by scheduling appointments, returning phone calls, and coordinating patient care. Applicants claiming Indian Preference must complete the full application and must provide documentation verifying eligibility (such as a tribal enrollment card or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)).

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 years + of directly related medical office experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite/ Google Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electronic health records and RPMS strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing accurate and professional information to patients and individuals interacting with the organization via telephone, e-mail, or other forms of communication.
  • Answers patient phone calls and returns calls in a timely manner.
  • Communicates effectively and concisely with providers, staff, patients, their families, and the general public.
  • Schedules patient appointments and collaborates with team nurses and providers.
  • Performs clerical duties including typing memos, letters, reports, checking departmental mail, distributing and obtaining health information records, faxes, and making copies of documents.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients' data and information.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned by the Director of Nursing and/or other RNs, to assist with the flow of patient care.
  • Utilizes critical thinking to differentiate between acute and chronic needs, and to correctly schedule patients within the Primary Care clinic schedule.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills with all patient encounters
