About The Position

Summit Surgical Specialists is seeking a Scheduling Clerk / Advanced Surgery Scheduler to join their team. This role involves scheduling surgery, office, and ancillary department appointments, completing prior authorizations and referrals, and coordinating with various departments, physicians' offices, and patients regarding procedures and tests. The position also provides administrative and secretarial support to the surgery clinical staff, handles database management, record and file keeping, and answers incoming calls. Additional duties may include clinical coding and patient billing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years scheduling experience required in a physician clinic.
  • Two years of registration experience required.
  • Typing (55-60wpm), filing, ten-key and computer skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required.
  • Able to perform work accurately and within rigid time frames.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to navigate several computer applications and the ability to operate all technical office equipment.

  • Medical terminology preferred.
  • Surgery scheduling and registration preferred.
  • Demonstrates attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality in dealing with others, in person, electronically and on the telephone.
