About The Position

The Centralized Scheduler routinely schedules tests and procedure cases for patients at locations where services occur as scheduled events. These may include clinic visits, surgery, the G.I. Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Nutritional Services, infusion units, and other departments. The scheduler coordinates with departments as needed, ensures accurate and complete patient demographic information is entered into the computer system, and enters insurance and authorization information when applicable. The role also notifies departments when scheduled surgeries may require equipment, instrumentation, or supplies from outside vendors, and prepares and distributes surgical schedules and on-call lists to appropriate departments or personnel. The position is at Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines, Illinois, and is full-time on the day shift.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
Knowledge of multiple insurance authorization requirements.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Customer service experience required.
Strong clerical and computer skills.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
