About The Position

The purpose of this position is to maintain, plan, develop, and program the SCADA, HMI, RTU, PLC software and hardware for the City under the general direction of the Department Director or designee. The position is responsible for technical work including adding features, enhancements and/or additions to the graphics and automation capabilities. Performs other related work as required.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in computer science, software application, or other related field
Two (2) years’ experience working with public lift-stations and SCADA systems
Valid State of Florida Driver’s license

Responsibilities

Provides solutions to problems to maintain continuous, effective, efficient, sale operation of all control computers and related communication hardware; exercises initiative and independent judgment.
Insures DEES facilities, process control computers and related communications hardware are performing and operating at optimal levels.
Monitors equipment and facility operations including water treatment control processes, collection and distribution computer systems, and radio-based SCADA computer systems.
Coordinates daily operations of DEES facilities process control computers and communications; establishes operational policies for relay instructions and recommends procedural revisions to the Utility Operations and Maintenance Superintendent; provides information on pertinent Computer Control Systems as required.
Initiates and directs process control computers, communication hardware, software and troubleshooting.
Confers with and advises staff on difficult technical problems relating to assigned date processing functions.
Works with other network, utility process and electrical personnel as needed.
Receives, installs, configures, programs, develops and calibrates equipment.
Conducts maintenance and upgrades industrial control equipment and software.
Collaborates with support providers and MIS.
Develops HMI graphics and equipment control functions.
Troubleshoots and responds to emergencies to ensure that malfunctions are diagnosed and repaired.
Understands, complies with applicable federal and state regulatory agency reporting and documentation requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
