About The Position

The SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) team within Asset Management Innovation and Technology is seeking a System and Database Specialist to provide technical leadership and advanced support for the critical systems that enable our water, gas, and electric utility operations. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability, security, integrity, availability, and performance of mission-critical SCADA and Operational Technology (OT) systems. You will serve as a technical resource supporting complex industrial environments where software applications, databases, servers, networks, industrial instrumentation, communications systems, and integrated operational technologies work together to support utility operations. Success in this position requires a broad full-stack IT background and the ability to troubleshoot, administer, integrate, and optimize technologies across multiple layers of the technology ecosystem. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience spanning systems administration, database administration, industrial networking, cybersecurity, virtualization, software integration, and operational technology platforms. Your technical expertise and leadership will enable Operations to improve efficiency, increase system reliability, reduce operating costs, and leverage technology to solve complex business and operational challenges.

Requirements

Systems administration (Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, virtualization platforms).
Database administration and SQL development.
Network infrastructure, industrial networking, and communications protocols.
Industrial systems integration and automation technologies.
Software development, scripting, or application support.
Cybersecurity principles and security controls for critical infrastructure systems.
Relevant and progressively responsible experience with Open Systems International (OSI) EMS/SCADA systems
Experience developing and managing ETL processes to ensure seamless data integration
Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and reporting

Nice To Haves

Experience with administering CISCO and Palo Alto Firewalls will be preferred
Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance is valued
A bachelor's degree in computer science or electrical engineering is valued
Advanced knowledge in network administration
Advanced knowledge in SCADA/EMS applications (power system modeling, state estimation, contingency analysis, power flow, short-term load forecast, load shed)
Implementation of new SCADA/EMS systems
Oracle and SQL database administration

Responsibilities

Administration, maintenance, monitoring, and support of SCADA, OT, and industrial control systems.
Database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and data integrity management.
Support and maintenance of Windows and Linux server environments, virtual infrastructure, and system services.
Management and troubleshooting of industrial and enterprise networking technologies, communications protocols, and connectivity between operational and business systems.
Configuration, implementation, and support of software applications, integrations, and data exchange interfaces.
System integration involving PLCs, RTUs, HMIs, historians, middleware, databases, and enterprise applications.
Development, modification, and support of scripts, automation solutions, and operational software applications.
Cybersecurity administration and compliance activities, including system hardening, patch management, access control, monitoring, and vulnerability remediation.
Troubleshooting complex issues across hardware, software, database, network, and application layers.
Planning, implementing, and supporting infrastructure upgrades, technology refreshes, and new system deployments.
Collaborating with Operations, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and vendor partners to ensure reliable and secure operation of critical utility systems.
Maintaining technical documentation, system diagrams, standards, procedures, and disaster recovery processes.
A monthly, week-long on-call rotation will be a required aspect of this position, and the ability to work extended periods of time to provide operational readiness of the EMS/SCADA system.
