About The Position

Rodan Energy is a North American leader in distributed energy resources and energy intelligence, enabling a more reliable, cost effective, and decarbonized grid. We partner with large energy users, utilities, and grid operators to design, finance, and operate high impact DER solutions—including asset optimization, demand response, metering, and power system engineering. Managing 1,400+ MW of flexible capacity across Ontario, NYISO, PJM, MISO, and AESO, we make sustainable attainable. This role supports an Ignition-based SCADA platform that directly enables grid reliability, DER operations, and market participation across IESO, AESO, NYISO, and PJM markets. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, operators, and technologists in a team environment that values technical excellence, reliability, and continuous improvement. Be a core technical contributor developing, enhancing, and supporting Ignition‑based SCADA systems that directly support Rodan’s growing DER portfolio. Own key SCADA delivery work that improves turnaround times, reduces operational risk, and enables faster site onboarding and stronger system stability as our platform scales. Gain exposure to complex DER deployments and emerging North American electricity markets, playing a key role in strengthening Rodan’s SCADA capability as we expand. This is a dedicated SCADA‑Ignition specialist position, offering ownership, depth, and meaningful collaboration with experienced engineers and architects.

Requirements

~ 2-3+ years of hands-on experience working in SCADA environments
Strong experience with Inductive Automation Ignition (HMI development, configuration, scripting and support)
Experience with SCADA migrations, upgrades, or system enhancements
Working knowledge of Python and/or Jython
Familiarity with SCADA telemetry standards and industrial communication protocols
Ability to troubleshoot and support production systems in operational environments
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross functional teams
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

Nice To Haves

Ignition certification
Experience in DER, energy, utilities, or critical infrastructure environments is an asset

Responsibilities

Design, configure, develop, and maintain SCADA systems using Inductive Automation Ignition
Support new DER and client projects, including site onboarding, configuration, and commissioning support
Execute AVEVA to Ignition migrations, upgrades, and system enhancements
Develop and maintain SCADA screens, dashboards, redundancy, and UI components
Provide operational support and troubleshooting for SCADA‑Ignition related requests and tickets
Perform Ignition upgrades, patching, testing, and QA
Collaborate with DER Systems, Engineering, and Operations teams to support delivery and reliability
Contribute to documentation, standards, templates, and continuous improvement of SCADA practices
Participate in a tiered support and on‑call model as the team scales
