Requirements

  • Good knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical system operations for transmission, distribution, and substation systems.
  • Knowledge of SCADA computer equipment and software.
  • Good knowledge of OMS/ADMS applications.
  • Skill in performing technical computations and making comprehensive recommendations.
  • Ability to perform network packet captures and analysis.
  • Ability to use good judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Ability to research, plan, coordinate, schedule, project, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public and all levels of employees.
  • Graduation from an accredited two-year community/technical college with a degree in Engineering Technology, Electronic Technology, Computer Science, or a related field OR Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience as defined above OR An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience as defined above.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Executing assigned activities related to the SCADA system, including integrations with OMS and ADMS, and troubleshooting microprocessor/relays at critical locations within the transmission and distribution system.
  • Assisting in implementing cyber security policies for Electric SCADA.
  • Monitoring SCADA, OMS, and ADMS functions.
  • Developing displays and performing SCADA linking activities for OMS and ADMS applications.
  • Configuring and monitoring network switches and SONET activities.
  • Integrating Smart Grid equipment into the SCADA system.
  • Operating under the general supervision of the TD Control Center/Utility Service Manager.
