About The Position

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. We are seeking a SCADA Communications Engineer to join our team at our Kenai, Alaska location. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead planning, develop layouts and recommendations, monitor and track transmission, distribution and substation design and preventative maintenance to ensure total system reliability. You will also lead planning, develop, design, specify, review, analyze, and correct and implement generation, transmission and distribution system and equipment protection and overall interlocking system coordination. Additionally, you will lead planning, develop, design, specify, review, analyze and correct SCADA system functions including generation, transmission, and distribution dispatch. A key part of this role involves leading planning, developing, designing, specifying, reviewing, analyzing, and correcting communication system infrastructure necessary to support system-wide Corporate and SCADA networks, HEA radio system, and other systems as assigned, including fiber, LAN/WAN, microwave, and radio systems. You will also develop and implement standards and specifications for the design and construction of Cooperative generation, transmission, distribution, SCADA, and communication systems, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Requirements

ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related field required; in lieu of the degree requirement an additional six (6) years of experience may replace the degree requirement.
Four (4) years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience required.
Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

Satisfactory completion of the Engineering Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam from a state licensing board, preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license from a state licensing board, preferred.

Responsibilities
