About The Position

Domtar is seeking a Saw Filer for its lumber manufacturing facility in Glenwood, Arkansas. This full-time, permanent, safety-sensitive position supports and safely performs saw filing activities, including inspecting, sharpening, repairing, and maintaining saws and knives. The role also involves equipment alignment, saw guide maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. The employee works with production, shipping, and maintenance teams and must follow safety and environmental policies and procedures.

The job involves regular standing, hand use, and reaching, as well as prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, and kneeling. The employee must be able to climb stairs and may need to move up to 50 pounds. The work environment includes moving mechanical parts, occasional fumes or airborne particles, usually loud noise, and seasonal exposure to high summer temperatures and cold winter temperatures.

Requirements

• Relevant experience working as a saw filer.
• Ability to operate a variety of sharpening machines and hand tools.
• Ability to climb stairs and potentially move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Safely support and execute saw filing activities for the lumber manufacturing facility.
• Inspect, sharpen, and assist in replacing large saws in the sawmill.
• Fill and maintain band saws and circle saws, perform machine alignment, maintain saw filing equipment, and complete preventive maintenance procedures.
• Inspect equipment for wear or damage and identify unsafe conditions.
• Maintain saw guides.
• Troubleshoot knife, circle saw, band saw, and guide problems.
• Properly sharpen, repair, and maintain circular saws, band saws, and knives.
• Operate and understand precision measuring and grinding equipment.
• Communicate respectfully with production, shipping, and maintenance team members.
• Follow all safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties.
