About The Position

Milton Academy is an independent college preparatory K–12 school, with boarding and day students in grades 9–12, located just outside Boston. The Academy fosters a passion for learning and respect for others in a diverse community focused on excellence, active learning, and the development of creative and critical thinkers.

The Saturday Course Intern supports students and teachers during Saturday program sessions. A successful candidate can work effectively in a diverse and inclusive community and brings warmth, compassion, cultural competence, flexibility, and humility. The intern works constructively with teachers, staff, administrators, and parents for the benefit of students and the community. The role is part-time on Saturdays during the academic year and is classified as academic-year staff.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in high school or have an equivalent qualification.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Be able to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies.
• Understand confidentiality and related issues.
• Be receptive to supervision and professional development.
• Desire to be part of a dynamic educational community.
• Be able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours each day in conjunction with OSHA requirements.
• Be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction.
• Be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children in schools, camps, or other organizational settings.

Responsibilities

• Set up activities and games.
• Work in classrooms with teachers who provide training and mentorship.
• Organize supplies and assist with cleanup.
• Receive feedback and guidance from the program director.
• Help with snacks and recess.
• Assist teachers with lessons during daily sessions.
• In some cases, support classes related to the intern’s particular skills and interests.
• Provide additional program support as determined by the director.
• Assist with arrival and dismissal duties.
