About The Position

I2X Technologies is seeking a SATCOM IP Network Support Engineer to support ongoing customer activities at Scott AFB. This is an onsite role requiring an active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to work in a 24x7 shift-work environment. The position supports federal and defense programs and involves operating and maintaining SATCOM network services to maximize network availability and limit mission and operational impacts. The engineer executes network operations across SATCOM teleports and gateways, including circuit configuration, analysis, redesign, and restoration during outages and maintenance. The role coordinates with customers and engineers at other network operations centers, performs change-management tasks, monitors network alarms, documents service-impacting incidents, and assesses and recommends resolutions to network incidents and deficiencies.

Requirements

  • Hold an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Hold a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification, such as Security+ CE or equivalent, before the start date.
  • Have a bachelor's degree and 2–4 years of prior relevant experience, or a master's degree and fewer than 2 years of prior relevant experience; an equivalent combination of education and/or experience is acceptable.
  • Be able to work in a 24x7 shift-work environment.
  • Have a general understanding of SATCOM and networking principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with deployed SATCOM terminals.
  • Circuit actions experience.
  • Telco NOC, inside-plant, or outside-plant experience.
  • Experience with the MS Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Experience with one or more of alarm surveillance, fault management, LAN maintenance, and performance management.
  • Knowledge of routers, switches, crypto devices, routing, Cisco, Juniper, iDirect, EBEM, ESEM, Linkway, MPM1000, and other associated modems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute network operations, including configuration and analysis of customer circuits across SATCOM teleports and gateways.
  • Perform real-time circuit redesign and alternate routing to restore customer connectivity during scheduled and unscheduled outages and maintenance actions.
  • Work directly with supported customers and engineers across other NOCs to maximize network availability and minimize or eliminate mission and operational impact.
  • Perform change-management tasks, including hardware replacement, software configurations, and ASI management.
  • Proactively monitor network alarms using platform-specific network management tools.
  • Use incident-management applications to document reported outages and degradations, isolations, escalations, and resolutions throughout service-impacting network incidents.
  • Assess network incidents and deficiencies and recommend resolutions using knowledge of relevant network and SATCOM equipment and technologies.
