The Sanitation position cleans, washes, scrubs, rinses, sterilizes, and/or sanitizes equipment and work areas to maintain a clean and sanitary environment. Cleaning methods may include high-pressure hoses or nozzles, dry-cleaning methods, or other methods as directed. The role requires mindful water use, preventing solids from being washed down drains, and controlling hose spray so it is not directed at people or equipment that may be damaged by water. The employee keeps areas and walkways clear for safety, including putting hoses away to prevent trips and cleaning messes beyond those listed on checklists. Food safety and personnel safety must remain priorities, including proper mixing, handling, and use of industrial-strength chemicals and cleaning agents. The job requires a 12-hour shift, either 7:45 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or 7:45 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., with rotation between day and night schedules every three months. On-the-job training is provided.
