About The Position

Seneca Foods is hiring a full-time Sanitation Employee for its Hart, Michigan facility. The role works the third shift, Monday through Friday from 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with occasional overtime as needed, and pays $21.83. The employee supports food-processing operations by cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas, safely handling chemicals and equipment, and assisting with product and material handling. The position requires attention to safety, proper PPE use, and following Lock-out / Tag-out procedures.

Sanitation employees work indoors and outdoors, with exposure to wet or humid conditions, extreme heat or cold, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and nuisance dust. The role requires wearing appropriate protective equipment and communicating regularly with team members across departments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Read and understand the English language.
• Basic math skills and clear communication skills.
• Be trained and knowledgeable in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Pass a respiratory fitness test.
• Hold an OSHA forklift license.
• Wear required PPE, including bump cap, eye and ear protection, gloves, and seatbelt.

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years of forklift experience preferred.
• Food-processing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle and properly use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Use proper Lock-out / Tag-out procedures.
• Maintain and operate a forklift safely.
• Complete daily forklift inspections.
• Properly use the steam / hot water system.
• Properly use product and material-handling pumps.
• Tote and barrel dumping.
• Dip cherries from totes.
• Pump processing and brine tanks.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.
