About The Position

The Sanitation employee performs duties to help meet quality and compliance goals by maintaining cleanliness throughout production areas, offices, common areas, and the warehouse. The role includes routine cleaning on daily, weekly, monthly, and ongoing schedules, as well as other duties as assigned. The employee must understand and follow product warning labels and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) instructions, and use the correct procedures and amounts when diluting cleaning chemicals. The work takes place throughout the facility, where the employee may encounter strong aromas, airborne ingredient dust, and machinery, including times when operating machinery.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Understand and follow product warning labels and SDS instructions.
Follow proper procedures and amounts for diluting chemicals used.

One year of janitorial experience in a food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness in production areas, offices, common rest areas, and the warehouse.
Follow warning-label and SDS instructions for products, and follow proper procedures and dilution amounts for chemicals.
Vacuum the lobby and offices daily; clean the lobby front door daily, lobby windows monthly, and routinely dust office desks. Empty office and lobby trash daily.
In the Plant Manager’s Office, dust the conference table and windows daily, in addition to the other office cleaning duties.
Empty trash cans and mop the Lab and R&D areas daily.
Sweep and mop the warehouse floor daily using a floor scrubber, and sweep beneath pallets daily.
Continually sweep spilled ingredients from pallets with a handheld broom and dustpan, ensuring spilled product is not left overnight.
Continually wipe warehouse racks with a wet rag, mild soap, and hot water, and remove cobwebs with a dust mop.
Clean the lunchroom refrigerator weekly; clean tables, mop the floor, wipe down the vending machine with a non-abrasive sponge and mild soap, and empty trash daily or as needed. Wipe out microwaves and clean the door and window.
Sweep and mop restroom floors daily; empty trash daily or as needed; clean mirrors daily with Windex and paper towels; and wash toilet bowls daily with a brush and toilet bowl cleaner.
Sweep and mop locker room floors daily; pick up shoes, hangers, hairnets, and trash from the floor daily; keep the top of the water heater clear and clean it weekly; dust the tops of lockers weekly; and scrub the shower routinely.
Empty trash cans when full and ensure trash is not left inside the building overnight.
Perform other duties as assigned.
