About The Position

The Sanitation Technician completes routine cleaning and sanitation tasks for necessary equipment and machinery at Vermont Smoke & Cure’s facility in Hinesburg, Vermont. The role includes cleaning and sanitizing processing utensils, equipment, production areas, and shared spaces; handling waste; and following established procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols. The position is on site and works Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM. Compensation starts at $23 per hour, plus a 10% shift differential.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Pay attention to detail and meet quality standards through meticulous cleaning, proper chemical mixing, and thorough sanitation.
• Demonstrate dependability and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Work collaboratively and build trusting relationships with team members.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for prolonged periods.
• Ability to bend and lift up to 50 pounds and/or lift 25 pounds repeatedly.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.
• Ability to talk, hear, and visually observe objects up close and at a distance.
• Ability to work in a 38°F temperature and wet environment and be exposed to food-facility cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to learn and apply new information or skills, communicate orally, interact with poise, tact, and diplomacy, discern cleanliness and quality, and follow food and workplace safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Prior sanitation experience, ideally in food-related work or involving mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize processing utensils, equipment, and interiors of production areas.
• Disassemble, clean, and sanitize required equipment using established procedures.
• Operate cleaning and sanitizing equipment, including foamers, pressure washers, hoses, and a walk-behind floor scrubber.
• Mix and/or use chemicals at proper concentrations to clean and sanitize equipment and areas effectively.
• Clean common areas, restrooms, and dressing rooms.
• Empty waste bins and barrels and transport trash and waste to the disposal area.
• Follow quality management standards, policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
