About The Position

This position is designed to be a career path to higher supervisory positions. The Sanitation Line Attendant will provide first-level supervision in their assigned Sanitation department, supporting the environment outlined in the Jennie-O Turkey Store Charter, Team Commitment, and Managing Principles. The role aims to maximize profit by assisting in organizing, staffing, coordinating, and controlling sanitation activities for least-cost production. Responsibilities include training and development of new sanitation employees, providing supervisory leadership in applying quality processes, and addressing issues related to employee performance, behavior, discipline, safety, chemical control, swabs, and pre-op deficiencies. The attendant must be able to perform all positions within the department.

Requirements

  • Able to work in a processing plant (which may be cold and damp or hot and humid)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Through knowledge of all jobs and chemicals used within the department
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Simple math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) required
  • Must have the ability to climb stairs and/or work on elevated stands or platforms
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Completed six (6) months in your present position. Team Members with less than six (6) months may be considered for promotion or transfer based on the needs of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first level supervision in his/her assigned Sanitation department
  • Supports the environment outlined in the Jennie-O Turkey Store Charter, Team Commitment and Managing Principles through appropriate Supervisory leadership and behavior
  • Maximize profit by assisting in organizing, staffing, coordinating and controlling sanitation activities least-cost production
  • Assist in training and development of new sanitation employees
  • Provide supervisory leadership in applying quality processes in the department
  • Address issues or deficiencies with employee performance, on the job behavior, discipline issues, safety, chemical control, swabs, pre-op deficiencies, or any other matter affecting the department
  • Must be able to perform all positions throughout the department
