About The Position

The Sample Splitter performs sample splitting on soil samples by following a program in the laboratory information management system (LIMS), which displays the required splits and checks. The role includes conducting moisture checks as needed, weighing sample mass with a balance, and recording information in LIMS. The employee also operates instrumentation and transfers data into LIMS, and discards samples from various bottle types when the LIMS program indicates they are ready for disposal. Additional duties may be assigned. This is a full-time position available on either a Friday–Monday schedule of four 10-hour second-shift days or a Tuesday–Saturday schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Training takes place on first shift, Monday–Friday, for three to four weeks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work independently.
Basic computer skills, including data entry.
Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Nice To Haves

Previous laboratory experience.
Previous experience with instrumentation.
Attention to detail.
Ability to use a balance and measure using milliliters.

Responsibilities

Split soil samples according to instructions and checks displayed in LIMS.
