About The Position

Onterris is seeking a full-time Sample Receiving Technician for its laboratory in Deerpark, Texas. The role ensures that incoming samples are received, documented, and stored correctly, and that discrepancies involving receipt, volume, preservation, labeling, or other factors that could affect client expectations are reported to a supervisor. The technician follows laboratory procedures and safety requirements while supporting sample management and related laboratory operations. Compensation is $20–$22 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. The schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of general laboratory practices and laboratory safety.
Ability to multitask and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
Strong organization and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

Some laboratory experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Receive environmental samples into the laboratory according to SOPs.
Enter sample and test information into the Laboratory Information System (LIMS).
Label sample containers and store them in appropriate locations.
Contact the appropriate department about short holding times or rush requests.
Assist with sample bottle preparation.
Assist with sample management, archiving, and disposal.
Assist with sample pickup or field sampling when needed.
Assist with coordinating the daily field sampling and pickup schedule when needed.
Participate in focus teams to improve efficiency.
Comply with the Quality Assurance Program.
Comply with the Health and Safety Plan.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Notify the supervisor of receipt, volume, preservation, labeling, or other discrepancies that could affect the laboratory’s ability to meet client expectations.
