About The Position

Salesforce Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Salesforce Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Loan Guaranty (LGY) IT modernization initiative. This role is responsible for the design, development, configuration, and deployment of Salesforce-based solutions that improve the delivery of veteran home loan benefits. The Salesforce Engineer will work within a DevSecOps-enabled Agile environment, contributing to scalable, secure, and high-performing applications across Salesforce platforms. This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise combined with an understanding of federal compliance, system integration, and enterprise application development.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in Salesforce development or engineering roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Salesforce configuration.
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with external systems using APIs and middleware.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience working in federal or regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce certifications such as Salesforce Platform Developer I/II or Salesforce Administrator.
  • Experience with Salesforce Government Cloud Plus.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Copado, Gearset, or similar).
  • Knowledge of integration platforms such as MuleSoft.
  • Exposure to containerization, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or microservices.

Responsibilities

  • Salesforce Development & Configuration: Design, develop, and implement custom Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, and declarative tools.
  • Configure and customize Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Experience Cloud to meet business requirements.
  • Develop reusable components and ensure adherence to Salesforce development best practices.
  • Integration & API Development: Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Collaborate with architects to implement API-first and event-driven architectures.
  • Support data synchronization and system interoperability across VA and third-party systems.
  • DevSecOps & CI/CD: Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and release processes using tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or Copado.
  • Implement automated testing, code quality checks, and security scanning.
  • Support deployment strategies including version control, branching, and environment management.
  • Data Management & Quality: Support data migration, transformation, and validation efforts.
  • Ensure data integrity through validation rules, deduplication, and governance controls.
  • Optimize performance through efficient data modeling and query design.
  • Security & Compliance: Develop solutions in compliance with federal security standards (NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, VA policies).
  • Implement role-based access control (RBAC), field-level security, and encryption mechanisms.
  • Support security assessments and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.
  • Collaboration & Agile Delivery: Work closely with product owners, solution architects, QA engineers, and UX designers.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Provide technical input into user stories, backlog refinement, and estimation.
