Salesforce Engineer

HireologyChicago, IL
$120,000 - $140,000Hybrid

About The Position

Hireology’s Business Technology team builds the tools, workflows, and automations that the rest of the company runs on, from Finance and Revenue Operations to Sales, Customer Success, IT, and Implementation. As a Salesforce Engineer, you’ll design, develop, test, and deploy scalable Salesforce solutions that make the day-to-day work of those teams faster and less painful. This isn’t a role where you sit behind a ticket queue. Business Technology is a new department, and you’ll be on the ground with non-technical colleagues regularly, helping them figure out what they actually need and then building it. You will serve as a foundational member of the team. While your primary expertise is in Salesforce, we are looking for a versatile problem-solver—someone willing to jump into other technology stacks and solve business problems regardless of the platform they live in. You will work closely with other engineers on the team, actively cross-training them in Salesforce architecture while learning broader engineering systems to ensure supportability and redundancy. If you can hold a real conversation with internal stakeholders and then translate their business requirements into technical solutions, you’ll fit right in. Hireology moves fast and makes decisions quickly. You’ll be context switching between teams, problems, and priorities on a regular basis, and that should energize you, not drain you. If you do your best work in a stable, predictable environment, this probably isn’t the right fit.

Requirements

  • 5 years of demonstrated Salesforce development experience with Apex, SOQL, LWC, and Salesforce automation tools.
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I certification.
  • Hands-on experience integrating Salesforce with third-party systems via REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, or iPaaS tooling.
  • Familiarity with deployment and release management practices—version control (Git), sandbox management, change sets, or tooling like Copado, Gearset, or Salesforce DX.
  • Strong business analysis skills: ability to gather requirements, propose solutions, and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and using project management tools like Jira.
  • Working knowledge of data modeling, relational databases, and ETL concepts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience.
  • Based in the Chicago area or willing to relocate; able to work on-site at least 3 days per week for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce Platform Developer II certification.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating applications in Microsoft Azure (our primary cloud platform).
  • Experience supporting internally-facing teams (Finance, Operations, CS) in addition to or instead of product-facing work.
  • Familiarity with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or Revenue Cloud.
  • Experience with web services and API development (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML).

Responsibilities

  • Act as our internal Salesforce subject matter expert, cross-training other engineers on the platform while actively learning and contributing to other systems in our tech stack.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, and platform best practices.
  • Own and evolve integrations between Salesforce and other internal systems—ensuring reliable data flow, process automation, and clean architecture across the stack.
  • Participate in the full development lifecycle: technical design, build, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
  • Write well-structured, maintainable code that adheres to engineering standards including version control, code review, and unit/integration testing to achieve 85% test coverage.
  • Translate business requirements from internal stakeholders (Finance, RevOps, Sales, CS, IT, and Implementation) into technical solutions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to optimize and automate business processes across internal teams.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment plans, and release notes.
  • Provide end-user guidance as needed in support of new feature rollouts.
