Salesforce Platform Engineer

Vanta,
$128,000 - $151,000Remote

About The Position

At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust. We believe that security should be monitored and verified continuously, and we empower companies to practice better security and prove it with ease. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it. As a Salesforce Platform Engineer at Vanta, you will build the developer experience and deployment foundation that our Salesforce engineering team relies on every day. You'll establish modern CI/CD practices, harden our release pipeline, instrument our platform with observability, feature flags, and get our codebase ready for AI-assisted development workflows. Reporting to the Lead of Salesforce Architecture, you'll own this domain end-to-end during an initial 9–12 month buildout, after which the role evolves into a 50/50 split between continued Platform/DX ownership and traditional Salesforce Engineering. The Business Systems team owns the platforms and infrastructure that GTM teams rely on daily. We build and maintain Salesforce, integration workflows, data pipelines, and automation that help Vanta scale while delivering exceptional customer experiences. As Vanta continues to grow, your work will directly enable that growth by building systems that support increasing complexity and volume. You'll bring deep, hands-on Salesforce Platform Engineering experience — the kind that only comes from having lived inside SF release pipelines, Gearset, sandbox management, and Apex testing in production. You understand the quirks of the SF platform and how it diverges from traditional software platform work. You'll work on challenging problems involving release safety, developer productivity, test data management, and preparing our environment for AI-assisted development workflows. This role balances foundational Platform work upfront with cross-functional collaboration as the team adopts the standards you put in place.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Salesforce engineering experience, including hands-on Salesforce Platform Engineering in production
  • Hands-on experience with Gearset, Salesforce DX, and Git-based deployment workflows
  • Proven experience defining and enforcing branching strategies, code review standards, and release processes for Salesforce orgs
  • Strong understanding of Apex and LWC testing frameworks, including how to drive test coverage, fast deployments, and reliability at scale
  • Experience managing Salesforce sandboxes or scratch orgs, including refresh strategy and seeding with realistic test data
  • Familiarity with feature flag patterns and progressive delivery on Salesforce
  • Experience implementing observability — logging, monitoring, error tracking — for Salesforce or comparable platforms
  • Working knowledge of Apex, Lightning Web Components, and declarative automation (Flows) — you'll be writing feature code in the 50/50 phase
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices including governor limits, bulkification, and design patterns
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to bring a team along on new standards and practices
  • Curiosity about AI-assisted development and how to make a SF codebase a great place for those workflows
  • Open to using AI to amplify your skills and strengthen your work — demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer I/II) are a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement modern CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce using GitHub and Gearset, including branching strategy, automated deployments, and release gating
  • Establish engineering standards across the SF team: peer review, linting, testing frameworks, branch hygiene, and code quality enforcement
  • Implement feature flag infrastructure for safer rollouts and progressive delivery on the Salesforce platform
  • Prepare our repository and tooling for AI-assisted development workflows (harness engineering, evals, automated review)
  • Build and maintain sandbox and scratch org management processes, including automated seeding of representative test data so developers can work productively
  • Instrument observability — logging, monitoring, alerting — across our Salesforce environment so we can detect and diagnose issues quickly
  • After the initial 9–12 month buildout, contribute as a Salesforce engineer building features in Apex, LWC, and Flow alongside continued ownership of the Platform/DX domain
  • Champion Platform Engineering best practices, testing, and release discipline with teammates

  • Industry-competitive salary and equity
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only benefit premiums covered for most medical plans
  • 16 weeks paid Parental Leave for all new parents

  • Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipend
  • Commuter benefits for team members who report to the SF and NYC office
