About The Position

The Sales Teammate’s primary responsibility is to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for Guests. The role performs sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by Store Management, including cashiering, merchandise displays and pulls, register procedures, and routine facility cleaning. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Sales Teammates provide friendly, engaging Guest service, assist with merchandise selection and fitting, share product knowledge and promotions, and work toward sales and Guest loyalty goals. They help maintain effective merchandise presentation and a clean, organized, shoppable store. Operational duties include register and cash handling, loss prevention, freight and merchandising tasks, and following company policies and procedures. The role requires a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and the day of or day after Thanksgiving and Christmas, based on store and business needs. Teammates regularly work in a retail store, where noise is usually moderate. Physical duties include standing, walking, handling and reaching, climbing or balancing, jumping, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and lifting and maneuvering up to 30 pounds throughout the store and backroom. Ability to lift and maneuver 30 pounds throughout the store and backroom.
Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, handling, reaching, climbing or balancing, jumping, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and talking or hearing.
Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Greet Guests and provide friendly, engaging, and legendary service throughout the store.
Answer questions about the store and merchandise; recommend, locate, and obtain products based on Guest needs.
Suggest additional merchandise, assist with fittings, support a wardrobing experience, and prepare merchandise for alterations.
Demonstrate product knowledge and share product and sales education with Teammates.
Maintain and share knowledge of current sales, promotions, payment and exchange policies, and security practices.
Meet personal sales-per-hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by Store Management.
Support sales presentations and complete the Sales Presentation Guide daily.
Support Guest loyalty and business-building activities, including fit appointments, the Buckle credit card, and Guest Connect.
Process purchases, bag merchandise, handle exchanges and returns, place special orders, and contact other stores to locate merchandise.
Build Guest relationships and develop a client-based business.
Recognize recruiting opportunities and contribute to a professional, respectful, positive floor culture.
Present merchandise to maximize sales and merchandise turn; maintain product knowledge and ensure the sales floor is sized and new freight is displayed appropriately.
Open and close cash registers; handle cash, charge slips, coupons, vouchers, drawer balancing, and deposits.
Recognize security risks and theft, follow Loss Prevention guidelines, and perform required daily bag and purse checks.
Perform freight handling, re-merchandising, display preparation, price markdowns, and transfers.
Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store and provide feedback about merchandise handling concerns.
Communicate policy violations and Teammate or Guest concerns to appropriate management or Human Resources in a timely, confidential manner.
Follow the company Code of Ethics, policies, procedures, and handbooks, and contribute to a positive team spirit.
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
