About The Position

The West tax representative reports to the West Region Sales Tax Manager and is responsible for assisting in daily activities related to assuring customers are taxed properly, exemptions are properly and promptly documented, customer tax disputes are resolved and sales tax is properly applied. Requirements

Prior sales and use tax experience in a corporate environment.
Minimum of one to three years of sales tax and customer relations experience in positions of increasing responsibility.
Willingness to learn sales and use tax laws and regulations with prior financial type roles.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the skills to work independently and to participate in continuous improvement of process.

Nice To Haves

Experience with SAP and Vertex a plus.
Associates / Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field is preferred

Responsibilities

Assist West Sales Tax Team to determine proper taxability of customers, and transactions; escalate any unresolved issues to the Sales Tax Manager
Review and Maintain exemption certificates in exemption certificate maintenance software.
Review and analyze open or pending sales tax dispute cases daily based on client claims, inquiries or tax software reporting indicators.
Interface with customers to determine validity of tax exemption certificates.
Request valid exempt certificates or other supporting documents from the customer via High Radius letters, email or postal mail.
Review weekly New Accounts report for missing exemption certificates.
Request letters are mailed out timely and maintained for tracking purposes.
Provide vendors with properly executed exemption certificates where applicable.
Provide support during sales and use tax audit.
Review and analyze automated daily tax dispute report and support Tax Team in managing customer sales tax disputes
Research sales tax rules and regulations of different states in order to assist the Sales Tax Manager in determining taxability of materials per customer exemption certificate and nature of business.
Analyze and reconcile customer accounts relating to Sales tax differences in order to resolve disputes promptly and accurately.
