Full Time - Sales Specialist - Millwork - Day
About The Position
As a Sales Specialist at Lowe’s, you will help customers identify the products and services they need and turn project ideas into reality. You will spend much of your time communicating with customers, discussing project requirements, answering questions, and helping them meet their home improvement goals. You will become knowledgeable about product specifications, features, promotions, and financing options, and provide consultative service to help meet customer needs. The department assignment depends on hiring needs and skillsets and may include Appliances, Cabinets, Flooring, Live Nursery, Millwork, Fashion Plumbing, Outlet, Tool Rental, Pro, or Windows & Walls. The role is active and involves moving throughout the store or garden center, answering phones, and assisting customers. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed. Working conditions vary by location and may include indoor and outdoor environments, extreme heat or cold, wet or humid conditions, wind or drafts, noise, and moving or shaking objects and equipment. Associates must follow lifting guidelines, use powered equipment as required, and receive proper training or assistance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of customer-facing sales experience or six months of Lowe’s retail experience; if the education requirement is not met, three years of external customer-facing sales experience or 18 months of Lowe’s retail experience is required.
- One year of sales or customer service experience in a sales environment with required sales goals or metrics.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds unassisted, or more than 25 pounds with or without an accommodation.
- Obtain sales-related licensure or registration if required by state law; Lowe’s will support and fund this requirement.
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience completing customer sales orders.
- One year of experience promoting product-related services and plans, such as installation, delivery, credit financing, or extended protection plans.
- Two years of experience designing customized products for customers using 20/20 or a Computer-Aided Design System.
- Professional certification related to the department being considered.
- Bilingual skills.
Responsibilities
- Seek out customers, understand their needs, answer questions, and communicate the advantages of Lowe’s products and services.
- Serve as a point of contact for customers and vendors in the department.
- Provide project estimates, schedule installer visits, process and track customer orders and installations, and follow up to ensure projects are completed.
- In the Pro Department, focus on external accounts and outside sales and services.
- Monitor inventory levels, coordinate with vendors and other stores to locate merchandise, and order replacement stock.
- Review prices according to pricing policies and maintain pricing and documentation.
- Support checkout functions, call buttons, departmental pages, and requests for assistance.
- Train department associates on the sales floor and coach them on development needs.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
