About The Position

The Sales Representative position is responsible for establishing relationships with customers and potential customers to increase the sales volume of products offered by Ben E. Keith. This involves establishing new accounts and increasing sales in existing accounts within an assigned territory. The primary duty is to sell the full line of products to retail accounts, track and record product distribution, and manage accounts' inventory. The role focuses on increasing volume, brand building, and share growth. Responsibilities include building business relationships, communicating with retail customers, understanding their needs, and designing solutions. Sales Representatives leverage relationships to sell new brands, engage in regular calls to sell product, gain distribution, merchandise, and stock product. They are expected to sell the full line of products and follow up with wholesalers to ensure sell-through of spirits to on-premise retailers. Promoting Ben E. Keith brands through promotions, consumer education, and merchandising is key. This includes executing company goals for sales, distribution, shelf space, display coverage, and merchandising to enhance brand visibility. Building product displays, placing signage, and maintaining merchandising materials are essential. Sales Representatives must stay aware of marketing activities relevant to sales channels, identify merchandising opportunities, and replace merchandising material to align with marketing programs. Ensuring maximum visibility and appropriate pricing of Ben E. Keith products is crucial. Utilizing sales tools such as M360, iDig Reports, Big Tin Can, Go Spot Check, Karma, LOLA, Brand Builder, and sales content from MS Teams and the Barker file is required. Organizing and refilling back stock, coolers, shelves, walk-ins, and displays, and maintaining a clean, organized back stock area at customer locations are part of the role. Maintaining product freshness through regular stock monitoring and rotation is necessary. Sales Representatives must be aware of all Ben E. Keith product offerings and their value, and present online sales portal information (BEES if ABI Location) to retailers when appropriate. Attending scheduled meetings with the Area Sales Manager/Team Leader to discuss market opportunities and other required meetings is mandatory. Communicating sales and merchandising opportunities or challenges, as well as competitive activity, to the Area Sales Manager/Team Leader is important. Safe operation of company equipment and vehicle readiness are required, along with reliable transportation and appropriate auto insurance. Completing required surveys to gauge performance against competition and assisting with special event activity are also part of the role. Projecting a friendly, professional image at all times and performing other duties as assigned are expected.

  • Excellent performance in previous BEK career path positions.
  • Must be 18 yrs. or older to apply.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Basic computer skills including the use of an iPad preferred.
  • Ability to learn and effectively monitor inventory and create orders that ensure adequate inventories and increase sales.
  • Physical endurance, you may need to be on your feet for long hours and spend time traveling between locations and carry heavy products.
  • Ability to move products weighing up to 165 lbs., stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.
  • Strong understanding of beverage industry landscape.
  • Strong understanding of retail environment.
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Build product displays; execute placement of signage and other merchandising material.
  • Remain aware of and execute basic marketing activity as it relates to our sales channels.
  • Identify merchandising opportunities at account and make recommendations to customer.
  • Regularly replace merchandising material at customer accounts to coincide with marketing programs and/or POCM Calendar.
  • Ensure maximum visibility of Ben E. Keith products at account and that products are priced appropriately.
  • Utilize available sales tools such as: M360, iDig Reports, Big Tin Can, Go Spot Check, Karma, LOLA, Brand Builder and sales content from MS Teams, and the Barker file.
  • Organize and refill back stock, coolers, beer shelves, spirits shelves, walk-ins, and displays.
  • Maintain designated back stock area at customer location; ensure area is organized and free of trash.
  • Maintain product freshness standards in assigned retail accounts by monitoring and rotating stock regularly.
  • Remain aware of all Ben E. Keith product offerings and the individual value they provide.
  • Present on-line sales portal VIP information (BEES if ABI Location) to retailers.
  • Regularly monitor inventory to ensure proper stock levels and rotation in all “market partitions”.
  • Attend scheduled meetings (morning and/or afternoon) with Area Sales Manager/Team Leader to discuss market opportunities.
  • Attend other meetings as required.
  • Communicate all sales and merchandising opportunities or challenges, as well as any competitive activity, to Area Sales Manager/Team Leader.
  • Operate all company equipment safely and in a manner consistent with company policy.
  • Ensure company equipment is in safe, working condition; report any incidents or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Maintain, keep clean and have vehicle business ready.
  • Complete required surveys to gauge internal results versus competition.
  • Assist with special event activity in assigned territory.
  • Project a friendly, professional image at-all-times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
