About The Position
ScottsMiracle-Gro is seeking a Sales Manager to join its Field Sales team. The Sales Manager manages an assigned territory and develops strong relationships with major home center retail partners, including The Home Depot and Lowe’s. The role focuses on increasing the in-store presence of Scotts Miracle-Gro brands, developing and executing sales and marketing plans, managing a budget, and overseeing merchandising execution. The Sales Manager also recruits, manages, and supervises a team of Merchandisers, with opportunities for leadership within the business and through relationships with major customers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience in retail, merchandising, and/or account management.
- Strong delegation skills.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Experience using sales forecasting tools.
- Problem-solving and service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends.
- Current, valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb an 8–12 foot ladder, lift up to 45 pounds, and work around weather elements such as heat, cold, wind, and rain.

Responsibilities
- Manage and direct Merchandisers’ work, including planning, scheduling, delegating assignments, and providing ongoing feedback.
- Analyze and prepare key metrics and use strategic selling tactics to educate home center retail partners about business opportunities.
- Develop retail sales and marketing plans, along with creative marketing tools and events.
- Develop recruiting plans, interview candidates, make hiring decisions, build the Merchandiser team, and manage the budget.
- Provide job training and communicate product knowledge across the Scotts brand portfolio.
- Assist retailers with proper merchandising of Scotts product lines, including the use of point-of-purchase materials as appropriate to account needs.
- Develop relationships with major home center retail partners and increase the in-store presence of Scotts Miracle-Gro brands in the assigned territory.
- Oversee merchandising execution in the assigned territory.
