About The Position

Courtyard by Marriott Pittsburgh University Center is seeking a driven, relationship-focused Sales Manager to lead revenue growth, build strategic partnerships, and expand market share. Managed by Concord Hospitality, this role involves developing and growing hotel business through direct sales, marketing, telemarketing, direct mail, and property tours for both guest rooms and event space. The hotel is located in Oakland, surrounded by universities, hospitals, museums, and corporate demand generators, offering modern guestrooms, flexible meeting space, and on-site dining.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hotel sales experience preferred
  • Marriott systems experience a plus
  • Strong closing, prospecting, and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Self-motivated, competitive, and results-driven mindset
  • Knowledge of Pittsburgh market preferred

Responsibilities

  • Generate new business through prospecting, networking, and client outreach.
  • Manage and grow corporate, group, university, healthcare, and local accounts.
  • Conduct site tours, client presentations, and networking events.
  • Negotiate contracts and close group rooms, meetings, and event business.
  • Partner with revenue management to maximize occupancy, ADR, and citywide opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline activity, and sales systems such as Delphi.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with timely responses and follow-through.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless event and guest execution.
  • Represent the hotel professionally in the community and at industry events.
  • Meet or exceed monthly revenue, booking, and sales activity goals.
  • Support overall hotel success through teamwork and operational partnership.
  • Foster new and existing business through proactive and reactive sales efforts.
  • Deliver excellent customer service with timely responses to calls and bookings.
  • Plan and organize sales strategies while maintaining keen pricing awareness for departmental efficiency.
  • Provide thorough follow-through on details for clients and internal hotel departments.
  • Collaborate with third-party booking sites, Concord revenue management, and city convention centers to maximize key city-wide events.
  • Meet and exceed monthly revenue and sales call goals.
  • Document all sales activities in Delphi or similar sales systems for tracking and historical reference.
  • Act as a team player to support the overall operation and success of the hotel.
