About The Position

The Sales Intern will gain an in-depth understanding of various functions in the Earthmoving and Rental Store Sales Departments through job shadowing, on-the-job training, and performing various Sales and Marketing functions as assigned. Sales Interns will be exposed to all Company departments including Sales, Parts, Service, Transportation, Credit, and Finance. The Sales Intern will demonstrate initiative, resiliency, sense of urgency, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Sales Intern must be willing to relocate anywhere in the Thompson Tractor territory in order to be considered for a permanent position. Steel-toed boots and a valid driver’s license are requirements for this position.

Requirements

• College Undergraduate Student
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required.
• Candidates must possess the ability to quickly acquire the following required skills and competencies
• Selling Skills
• Relationship Building Skills
• Problem Resolution Skills
• Basic Mechanical and Parts Identification Skills
• Excellent Written Communication Skills
• Basic Computing Skills including Microsoft Office
• Steel-toed boots
• A valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

• Previous sales experience
• A working knowledge of the equipment industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Job shadow Sales Department employees
• Work beside an Inside Sales Representative
• Ride with Machine Sales and Product Support Representatives
• Visit customers and get a contract signed
• Work in various Service Departments including the shop and field service
• Work on the Rental Counter, Parts Counter, and in the Warehouse
• Ride in the TRA Truck
• Operate heavy equipment and lift trucks on a limited basis
• Assist in delivering machines to customers
• Handle walk-in customers and use the phone to communicate effectively
• Work with the Marketing Department at Company events or conventions
• Establish and maintain personal working relationships with coworkers
