The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver an excellent customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors support customer-facing sales and service, as well as tasks such as down stocking, inventory management, merchandising input, and area recovery. They promote store safety by monitoring power-equipment use, coaching safe behaviors and lifting techniques, conducting safety walks, and reporting hazards. The supervisor works with leaders to identify effective approaches to sales and service objectives and communicates best practices to the team. They may supervise associates in other departments as store needs require, so broad product knowledge and the ability to engage with associates and customers across departments are important. The role also involves communicating concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. Supervisors may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, though occasional travel to meetings, training, or neighboring stores may be needed.
