The Sales Floor Department Supervisor leads and enables a team of associates to deliver a strong customer experience. The role includes coaching and training associates, delegating and following up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors support customer-facing work such as greeting customers, identifying needs and solutions, and closing sales, as well as non-customer-facing work such as down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They help maintain store safety through safety walks, hazard reporting, and reinforcing safe work and lifting practices. The supervisor works with leaders to identify sales and service practices, then communicates them to the team to encourage customer-focused behavior and goal attainment. They may supervise associates in other departments and need to engage customers and associates across departments. They also communicate concerns, issues, praise, and morale to management. They may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty. Regular travel is not required, although occasional travel to meetings, trainings, or neighboring stores may be needed.
